At least eight people were killed in a mass shooting at a supermarket in upstate New York, multiple media outlets reported Saturday, citing law enforcement officials.
Buffalo police said only that “multiple people” were struck by gunfire in the shooting, adding that the shooter was in custody.
Police said the mass shooting occurred at a Tops store, but did not provide details on injuries or fatalities.

Police also did not immediately disclose the suspect’s condition and identity, but NBC New York reported Saturday afternoon that the gunman was among the dead.
The outlet also reported that a man was wearing some type of military-style gear or body armor, and armed with a rifle, and that he entered the supermarket shortly after 2:30 p.m. and opened fire.
